To resize an image to 150KB, the tool above is ready. Load a file and run it. The result lands just under 150 KB, with the final size, the pixels and the quality all shown before you save.

150 KB is not a standard Indian form limit. Most people reach it after 100 KB proved too tight for a dense document, and this page covers what that extra room actually buys.

What Does 150 KB Give You Over 100 KB?

Half as much again, which is exactly the amount that decides whether small print survives. 150 KB is 1,228,800 bits against 819,200 at 100 KB, and on a text-heavy page that gap shows up in the footnotes rather than the headings.

A page of printed text is the hardest thing to compress, because every letter is a hard black edge against white paper and JPEG stores hard edges expensively. Faces forgive compression. Body text does not, and it fails from the smallest characters upward.

Where a portal allows 150 KB, using it costs nothing and keeps the fine detail.

Why Can Paint Change Pixels But Not Kilobytes?

Because the two are only loosely related, and Paint controls the one that does not matter here. You can set an exact width and height in Paint, but nothing in the program tells you what the saved file will weigh, so hitting 150 KB becomes save, check properties, undo, repeat.

Same pixels, very different weight

Two images at identical dimensions can differ several times over in file size. A blank white page and a detailed certificate at 1000 by 1400 pixels are the same shape, but the certificate holds vastly more detail to describe. Pixels set the ceiling on file size, never the actual number.

Reaching a specific kilobyte figure means adjusting JPEG quality and measuring the result, then adjusting again. That loop is what the tool above runs, several times, in under a second. Paint has no quality control and no measurement, which is why the two cannot be made to meet.

How Do I Resize An Image To 150KB?

You can resize an image to 150KB online here in three steps and about ten seconds, with the target already filled in for you.

1

Check Whether 150 KB Is Your Real Limit. If the portal allows 200 KB, take it. Detail given away cannot be recovered later.

2

Trim The Margins. Blank paper around a document still costs kilobytes, and cropping it hands that budget back to the text.

3

Zoom Into The Smallest Print. Judge the preview on the tiniest characters on the page, since those fail first.

If what you are uploading is an exam photograph rather than paperwork, the numbers are different and stricter. Our government form photo and signature sizes reference sets them out exam by exam, each with the date it was checked.

Is My Document Uploaded Anywhere?

It never leaves the device

No. The work happens inside your browser, so there is no transfer and no stored copy anywhere. Disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded and the tool carries on working.

Need A Different Size?

100 KB is the figure admission portals name most often, and it needs a tighter crop on the same page. 200 KB is where scanning advice starts to matter more than compression, and that page covers DPI and greyscale properly.

Common Questions

Do Any Portals Actually Set 150 KB?

A few do, mostly university and professional registration systems. The far commoner Indian figures are 100 KB and 200 KB, so read your notification rather than assuming 150 KB is the rule.

Can I Fit Two Pages Into One 150 KB File?

Yes, though each page then gets half the budget. Crop both tightly and use greyscale where the document allows it, and two pages of ordinary text hold up at this size.

What Formats Does It Take?

Ten, including the TIFF a desktop scanner produces and the HEIC an iPhone saves. Everything comes out as JPEG to match portal requirements, with transparent areas filled white first.
